How to customise your profile

Customising your profile let's your personality shine out from your profile page and helps it's to stand out from the crowd.

There are two ways that your can customise your profile.

 1. Log in - click My Profile in the top right menu block and then click on customize profile in the menu block immediately above the profile contents.

In this section you can

  • change the backgorund colour or add a background image.
  • change the font colour and size
  • change the font type

2. log in - click My Profile in the top menu block and then click on Edit Profile in the menu block immediately above the profile contents.

In this section you can

  • change your personal details and password
  • change the contents and look of your description. You can use most types of html in this area except for iframes and javascript. You can easily embed widgets from sites such as Twiter.com, slide.com or meez.com. There's plenty fo choice for you to add life to your profile
  • html codes - this box allows you to insert Myspace themes and layouts in to your profile. Most of the layouts should work ok  - some will need a little adaption, but this is not My Space so not all themes will work as expected. There is plenty of temes and layouts available on the web.
  • Playlists - if you do not have you own music to upload (and you must have full copyright and broadcasts rights) then you can embed a playlist of your favorite music provided the music sites provides an embeddable player. some sites to try include playlist.commyflashfetish.com - for some great player designsand mp3powersearch.com. But you probably have your own favorites.
  • Videos can be embedded from any source - not just You tube. You can also include videos from Google, Daily Motion or My space provided they offer video or video playlist embedding.

How to embed videos

Embedding videos into your profile is easy.

Once you log into your account look to the top main menu and click on My Profile.

In the My Profile menu you will see an edit profile link - click that to go to the edit pages of your profile.

Scroll down to you come to the videos section - here you will find the box that you need to paste the embed code for the video.

You can embed video from most of the sources on the web provided that they  provide an 'embed player' facility. This means you can embed from Google, YouTube, MySpace and Daily Motion as well as others.

You can also embed video playlists here as well.

If you want to embed a series of videos you can do this by pasteing each player one after the other in the video box. We stongly advise for presentation purpose to include the following code in between each embedded payer:

<p>&nbsp</p>

<p>&nbsp</p>

This will add a couple of empty paragraphs between each embedded player and look better.

Once you have placed your code into the box press the save button at the bottom of the page. You will be notified when the page saves correctly.

As you can see there are plenty of opportunities for you to really add your own ideas to your profile

Adding playlists to your profile

how do I add a playlist to my profile?

You can embed a playlist the following way:

1. Log in to your account

2. Go to the My Profile section

3. Click on the Edit Profile button

4. Scroll down to the Playlist box

5. Open a new window and go to www.playlist.com and open an account. This mod may also work with other playlist providers if they offer an embed playlist option.

6. Search for and chose the tracks you want featured on your profile page and add to your playlist. Once you have selected your tracks click on the embed button

7. Customise your player (we strongly advise NOT to autoplay) and then click on the embed in any other social network or blog... link

8. Copy the code and paste it into the box on your edit profile page.

9. Save your page

You playlist will now be on your profile page and you can share the music with your friends.

Have fun with this useful little mod theat we've put on the site. We have a range of other mods coming very soon.

Adding your blog feed to Twitter

Now that I've set up a basic rss feed for your blog (find your rss feed by clicking on All Blogs link in the blogs main menu), you can now feed your blog headers through to your twitter account.

It's not too difficult to set this up if you have a twitter account. First you will need to go to twitterfeed.com and open an account - if you do not have an openid name then you will be directed on how to set one up.

Once you have your openid and logged into twitterfeed click on the go to twitterfeeds link. Then click on create new feed.

Authenticate your twitter feed account by clicking on the link.

You then need to fill in the details of your feed. You can find your yfenni.net blog feed by logging into your account and clicking on the All blogs item under the blogs menu. Look for your user name and then click on the orange rss symbol next to it. You rss address will be shown in the upper address bar. This needs to be put into the rss feed field in twitterfeed.

Fill in the remainder of the required details and set your frequency of updates.

Feeding your blog through to your twitter account is a great way to notify people that you've just put posted some new items.

You can also feed rss feeds from group posts (very useful if you have set up your own group) and soon I hope to have rss feeds available for the articles section once I have written a new more powerful mod for this facility.
